Networks and Collaboration

We work with partners ranging from spin-offs and start-ups via strong SMEs to big global players.

The most important national collaborators are health care organizations, the closest being university hospitals (associated with the Pirkanmaa (PSHP) and Northern Ostrobothnia (PPSHP) healthcare districts) and health innovation ecosystems both in Tampere and Oulu regions. Test bed environment concept for MedTech innovations is the main joint development. Other small and mid-size public and private health care organizations are working with us, too.

The most important European collaborators have similar objectives: from basic research fertilize medical devices and healthcare solutions to give benefit to patients. We have four such committed collaborators:

  • Curam, Galway-based Irish research center
  • Norwegian Centre for E-health research
  • Nøhr Maersk McKinney Møller Institute, University of Southern Denmark
  • Jožef Stefan Institute, Slovenia.

Continuous active industrial co-operation, co-creation and R&D activities exist with the medical device area, wellness technology area, services and ICT, pharma. We work with partners ranging from spin-offs and start-ups via strong SMEs to big global players. We are open for new committed industrial partners.

Researchers and professors all have strong international and national research networks. SciVal analysis of FinMedTechNet PIs show that among publications from years 2018-20, 27.2 % are published with national and 44.3 % with international research colleagues.
