A few words about us
The FinMedTechNet consortium is a joint initiative among two Finnish universities – Tampere University and University of Oulu – and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd. to collaborate in research and in commercialization activities in the medical technology (MedTech) field.
Getting medical devices and advanced therapy medicinal products to the market often takes at least 5-10 years from research to end-product. Thus, the translation process needs to be sped up. We develop action models and supporting activities for researchers, and improve the communication among all the stakeholders, including local university hospitals, health hubs and districts as well as international competence centers and companies.
This is what we focus on
FinMedTechNet has 4 focus themes:
- In Vitro and In Vivo Tissue Engineering
- Data-driven Health Solutions
- Next Generation Wireless Sensors in Medical Applications
- Value Creation and Impact Assessment in MedTech Ecosystems.
From a clinical application viewpoint, research and innovation actions will focus on musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, however, many of the approaches developed have a wider applicability to other diseases.
