A few words about us
The FinMedTechNet consortium is a joint initiative among three Finnish universities – Tampere University, University of Oulu, and University of Eastern Finland – and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd. to collaborate in research and in commercialization activities in the medical technology (MedTech) field.
Getting medical devices and advanced therapy medicinal products to the market often takes at least 5-10 years from research to end-product. Thus, the translation process needs to be sped up. We develop action models and supporting activities for researchers, and improve the communication among all the stakeholders, including local university hospitals, health hubs and districts as well as international competence centers and companies.
This is what we focus on
FinMedTechNet has 4 focus themes:
- Diagnostics and therapies
- Physical data acquisition by sensors and devices
- Data-driven health solutions
- Value creation and impact assessment in MedTech ecosystems
From a clinical application viewpoint, research and innovation actions will focus on musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, however, many of the approaches developed have a wider applicability to other diseases.
